As long as Tanya Bone can remember, she has been drawn to the still life paintings of Old Masters and says, “they speak to me on a deeply emotional level.” She works with traditional media and classical methods and is moved to create paintings that induce a re-appreciation of traditional realism and touch upon timeless and universal themes.

I’m not sure I know exactly what clouds are is a collection of built photographic images and objects, utilizing the sky and clouds to understand the transient nature of photography. Meganelizabeth Diamond experiments with historical and contemporary photographic processes, blending and emphasizing the slippage between them. Cloud formations serve as both subject and metaphor, symbolizing stages of fluidity and grief. To bend the sky, to fold a cloud, to cut through the horizon. Cloud stacks and sky tubes.
Working at the intersection of photography, collage, new media and moving image, Meganelizabeth Diamond’s practice employs both analog and digital approaches in alternative modes of image building through explorations of the natural world via emotional connectivity, artificiality and perception.

Paul Bryans has been creating artwork and developing his technique for four decades. He is known best for his island landscapes but his work also features abstraction and elements of expressionism. The artist is inspired by the natural world around him as well as inner exploration. Bryans was born on Vancouver Island but spent his formative years growing up in Haida Gwaii and Nigeria. Now residing on Salt Spring Island Bryans has contributed to many shows and galleries there for the past years. Theses places are reflected in Bryans work contributing to his landscape paintings. Bryans work allows us to slow down and take a minute to breathe.

British artist Anthony Carr's first solo exhibition in North America will transform arc.hive gallery into an ‘odditorium’ of curiosities: part archive store room, part astro-botanical science lab.
This free exhibition contains artworks from the expanded photography field of both sculptural and 2-D form, where the viewer will be invited to explore the world of the (faux) archive. Conceived when the world stopped and our immediate surroundings held new meaning, 'the collection' becomes a vehicle for preservation and research, and a distraction and coping mechanism. Open to everyone of all ages, the exhibition runs from June 1st to 16th on Saturdays and Sundays from noon until 4pm, with a special preview reception on Friday May 31st between 7 and 9 pm. Anthony Carr will be present on all days the gallery is open and will be very happy to give more insight into the pieces on display, over a cuppa.
