  1. It seems that City Hall has little or no backbone when it comes to standing up for Victoria's special character in the face of profit motivated developers. Councillor Dubow was a poor trade for Pamela Madoff. Heaven only knows what the area from Wellburns through Quadra & View will look like when it's all built out, but my money is on much more "Vancouversesque" than Victorian. The "inspired" V1488 building on the site of the former BCAA building at Cook and Pandora is an frightening example of what we can expect, a massive structure that sucks the light and air out of every available cc of the site. It looms over the Mondrian next door and the tasteful redevelopment of the Wade across the street, blocks the view of the mountains from Cook Street and casts it giant shadow on Harris Green. What were our city planners thinking? Keep up the good work Gene.
