May 5, 2020 OUR HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS in direct contact with patients who are infected, or presumed to be infected, with COVID-19, are making the selfless decision to put the lives of others ahead of their own. Now, more than ever, they need to be propped up, cheered on and profoundly thanked. But more importantly, they need to be protected—all of them. The term “frontline worker” has become ubiquitous, a form of shorthand to refer only to doctors and nurses.
