Excellent article, until we adopt holistic system thinking and start a valuation of longevity of our ecology, it will keep getting worse, and this government are supposed to be ‘the good guys’!?

I agree with Gene that Mayor Helps has been exceptional and exemplary, and done with what he calls poise. i see it as visionary leadership and whereas I would add, lack of respect for architectural heritage to the cold towers comment, Mayor Helps accomplishment of making nearly dead and newly wed into one of Canada’s indisputably best cities and future proofed with high tech is a feat no other mayor has even imagined, let alone accomplished. And all without John Horgan style boasting. Our premier could learn a lot about real leadership by studying ‘The Helps Method’.

Council ignores James Bay concerns about trees, density, affordable housing

This council seems to be representing development at all costs over citizens and with virtually total disrespect of official community plans. I have volunteered on civic committees for most of the 40 years I have lived here and this is the most insensitive council we have had. I will be resigning my current role and can only hope a new council with respect for the citizens over unfettered and unwanted growth can be elected. -
