  1. Interesting, the environmental benefits are clear. However, we were looking into installing solar on Pender, but when we calculated it out it would take about 20 years or so to break even on the investment as panels are still expensive and hydro is cheap in BC (including selling back to the grid). The quotes we got were around $20k, and if you want a battery storage option, add another $15-20k. Solar powered hot water on the other hand, does make great economic sense for us as the install should be around $8k. So, that looks like the way we will go. Cheers Bernie
