The exhibition, REFUGE offers a peaceful sanctuary separate from the urgency of the outside world. The seven artists (llka Bauer, Leslie Bell, Elizabeth Carefoot, Anna B Grant, Gabriela Hirt, MJ Hughes and Jane Michiel) work across media and through different techniques to create art that together speaks to our human need for refuge.

As the pandemic recedes, the artist explores her renewed appreciation for simple, quiet pleasures in this new series of figurative abstract paintings. A limited palette varies from work to work, with white paint and cold wax providing unity. The overall effect suggests moments of calm reflection on the journey to reach the place, real or imagined, where we feel most at peace.

Gage Gallery exhibition: Leslie Bell dives into a conceptual exploration of the ocean's deep space, with a side trip to the real world of plankton. Part art exhibit, part science fair, part personal journey; this exhibition of paintings, prints and digital media contemplates and speculates on the hidden world that surrounds us.
German-Canadian artist Gabriela Hirt, investigates the traumatic legacy she has inherited growing up in the wake of the events of the Second World War. The work explores belonging and exclusion as well as the relationship between German guilt and de-colonial healing in her adopted home in Canada.

In the midst of challenging times, Dreamscape offers a visual antidote to our current climate of tension, change and uncertainty. Dreamscape is a meandering escape with a message of reflection and optimism, which is always within reach.
