Veronica Stewart is a Scotland-born artist who has lived on Vancouver Island since emigrating to Canada in the early 1980s. A graduate of Edinburgh College of Art, she has worked as a full-time artist for almost 40 years, initially focusing on clay before shifting her practice to jewellery, where she developed a strong interest in precious metal clay and now works primarily with silver, wire and semi-precious stones. Her current work brings together crocheted and knitted fine wire with silver, gold and gemstones to create sculptural jewellery. Drawing on a lifelong background in knitting and crochet, she continues to use stitch, pattern and texture as ongoing sources of inspiration, creating pieces that balance structural strength with intricate, delicate form.
