Giroux paints ghostly interiors and exteriors filled with gesture and light. Drawing inspiration from houses in his local area of Southern Ontario, as well as grander rooms in Europe, his abandoned spaces evoke memories and nostalgia. Says the artist,“The paintings play upon the fine line between reality and slight surrealism, always drawing upon the viewer to move within the rooms…My hope is to evoke the memories of the many spaces we’ve visited, lived in and the role they’ve played upon our senses.” 1203 Broad St, 250-388-0009, www.westendgalleryltd.com.
