The jewellery collections from Chi's Creations are inspired by the natural beauty of Vancouver's North Shore, translating coastal elements into pieces that feel both distinctive and effortlessly wearable. Each design offers a sense of meaning and individuality within everyday style.
Designer Chi Cheng Lee is a graduate of New York's Parsons School of Design. Influenced early on by her father, a painter of Chinese watercolours on silk, she went on to spend more than 18 years with the Fifth Avenue luxury jewellery house Harry Winston. With a rich cross-cultural background shaped by living in 18 residences worldwide, Chi now works from her Studio-in-the-Woods in West Vancouver, where her global perspective continues to inform her designs. Three Victoria artists present Writ Large - Contemporary Works on Paper
Three Victoria artists draw on their pasts as professional writers and editors to exhibit a collection of large-format works inspired by the emotional and intellectual energy of written language.
Georgina Montgomery, Louise Oborne, and MaryLou Wakefield use words and text as part of their visual language to amplify a compelling idea, question, or life experience personally meaningful to them.
In this series, the artists demonstrate their individual stylistic approaches to interpreting 'Writ Large' and invite viewers to find their own meaning and interpretation in the works.
Writ Large will be on at arc.hive artist run centre October 4 - 19 and open for viewing Saturdays and Sundays from 12 - 4 pm.
An opening reception with the artists in attendance will be on Friday, October 3, from 7 - 9 pm.

Community members are invited to protect their privacy and support compassionate end-of-life care at the same time by taking part in the Shred-A-Thon for Victoria Hospice on Saturday, May 2, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
The event will be held at EMCO, 3050 Leigh Road in Langford (off Langford Parkway, across from Starlight Stadium). Residents can safely dispose of confidential documents while making a meaningful contribution to Victoria Hospice, which provides essential care and support to individuals and families facing life-limiting illness.
A minimum suggested donation of $10 per box is encouraged, with all proceeds benefiting Victoria Hospice. The Shred-A-Thon is proudly presented by Team WMC in support of the Hike for Hospice.
“This is an easy, practical way for people to give back while checking an important task off their to-do list,” organizers say. “Every box shredded helps ensure Victoria Hospice can continue providing comfort, dignity, and care when it matters most.”
Community members are encouraged to attend, donate generously, and help spread the word.

With the Emily Carr String Quartet, Josh Layne (harp), and Malcolm Armstrong (double bass)
Featuring the BC Premiere of The Lost Birds By Christopher Tin – a magnificent choral work that serves as both an elegy for vanished species and a powerful plea for the earth’s fragile future.
Wings of Silence centres on Christopher Tin’s striking cinematic oratorio, The Lost Birds — a soaring tribute to the beauty of flight and a poignant lament for species lost to time. This immersive performance invites audiences to reflect deeply on humanity’s relationship with the natural world and the urgent need for conservation.
Presented by the Capriccio Vocal Ensemble, the concert is enriched by a collaboration of images provided by Rocky Point Bird Observatory (RPBO). A special pre-concert panel discussion at 2:00 PM will feature Ann Nightingale (RPBO) and Dr. Richard Kool (Royal Road University), exploring the intersection of art, science, and environmental stewardship. Audience members are also invited to explore information tables hosted by local nature and conservation groups before and after the performance.
Students from the Arts Calibre Academy will contribute original artwork, displayed in the venue and available through a raffle draw. Proceeds will support the Swan Lake Nature Sanctuary, further extending the event’s impact beyond the stage.
As the inaugural event in the 2026 Gaia Celebration Series, sponsored by the Gail O’Riordan Climate and the Arts Legacy Fund, Wings of Silence offers a moving artistic experience grounded in environmental awareness — a call to listen, reflect, and act before the voices of the earth fall silent.
