This event begins 2025-11-22 and repeats every day until 2026-04-12
November 22, 2025 - April 12, 2026 Organized and circulated by The Reach Gallery Museum; guest curated by Sajdeep Soomal.
A survey of recent works by artist Simranpreet Anand, including collaborative pieces with artist and ethnomusicologist Conner Singh VanderBeek. Anand’s practice, indebted to familial and cultural community, engages materials and concepts drawn from the histories of Punjab and its diasporas. The title of the exhibition, sheesh ‘ch thareṛ, captures the fissures emerging from her ongoing encounters with matter and material culture in our globalized world. The show centres around ਬੰਦੇ ਚਸਮ ਦੀਦੰ ਫਨਾਇ / bande chasm deedn fanaai (Ang 723), a body of works that takes the synthetic, plastic-laden material culture that surrounds contemporary Sikh institutions as its starting point. Parallel to this series are works that consider the fabric of everyday life, attending to its embodied histories and gendered contexts of labour.

An Art Show Featuring Photographers Anne McCarthy, Clare Palmer & Ron Charles
Three artists, three approaches to shedding light on the theme of shadows through photography.
Anne McCarthy bends, blends and enriches her photographs with digital manipulation and hand-painted additions to expose shadows that are real, imagined and sometimes stretched to abstraction.
Clare Palmer has an eye for coaxing overlooked subjects out of the shadows. Her subtly engaging shadows are raw, unedited and meant to be taken as she saw them.
Ron Charles uses vintage cameras and age-old techniques to bring shadows to large format sheet film, glass dry plates, and rare long-expired darkroom paper.
Donations will be accepted to support Rainbow Haven, which operates safe houses abroad for LGBTQ+ asylum seekers forced to live in the shadows while awaiting resettlement after fleeing persecution from anti-gay laws that threaten imprisonment and death in their home countries.
Opening Reception Friday, November 21st from 3-6 pm
You are also invited to join Anne McCarthy, Clare Palmer and Ron Charles for an Artists Talk Monday, November 24th, 1-3 pm
19 Bastion Square, Victoria
Hours: Tuesday to Sunday, 11am to 5pm

Three Victoria artists present Writ Large - Contemporary Works on Paper
Three Victoria artists draw on their pasts as professional writers and editors to exhibit a collection of large-format works inspired by the emotional and intellectual energy of written language.
Georgina Montgomery, Louise Oborne, and MaryLou Wakefield use words and text as part of their visual language to amplify a compelling idea, question, or life experience personally meaningful to them.
In this series, the artists demonstrate their individual stylistic approaches to interpreting 'Writ Large' and invite viewers to find their own meaning and interpretation in the works.
Writ Large will be on at arc.hive artist run centre October 4 - 19 and open for viewing Saturdays and Sundays from 12 - 4 pm.
An opening reception with the artists in attendance will be on Friday, October 3, from 7 - 9 pm.
