Stop by the Gage Gallery at Bastion Square to see plein air paintings from around Vancouver Island and larger works made in the studio. I capture the essence of a scene using oil and cold wax, leaning towards abstraction. A reception will be held Friday March 8 from 5:30 to 7:30pm.

In May 2023, Katharine Geddes travelled to Ypres, Belgium to take part in a
documentary called Ways We Remember War. She painted on land once ravaged by the First World War - now restored countryside. Geddes followed the pathways forged by Canadian war artist Mary Riter Hamilton, who painted the devastation in 1919. “Now when I paint on site I think about the power of place,” she says. “I imagine both past and future, building a continuum of moments in time.”
    Katharine Geddes presents
    Landscape and Memory
at Gage Gallery Arts Collective, March 5-24, 2024
    Opening is March 8, 5:30-7:30

In Sight Festival is the result of a unique collaboration between the Arts and Culture Colwood Society and Fort Rodd Hill NHS, Parks Canada. As partners in this endeavour, they appreciate the interconnections between the arts, culture, nature, and historical awareness in building strong community bonds. Expanding on last year's inaugural success, Arts and Culture Colwood president, Laura Davis has bravely augmented this year's cultural offerings with more diverse music and an expanded program. Thanks to Parks Canada, the park admission fees have been waived, which makes it a truly affordable event for everyone and a refreshing approach to bringing the community together.

    Written by Lanford Wilson
    Directed by Peter McGuire

Winner of multiple awards, this classic comedy by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Lanford Wilson unfolds in the faded grandeur of the Hotel Baltimore's lobby, now a haven for a diverse community of outcasts facing eviction with the hotel's looming demolition.
Set against a single day, we are introduced to the eccentric group of residents whose lives intersect to create a vivid mosaic of human experiences. Wilson's masterful storytelling intertwines humour and compassion, celebrating resilience, stifled dreams, past glories, and the determination to carry on.
