Cheryl Long's art exhibition at fortune gallery March 29-April 30 Artist in attendance April 2, 12-5pm
    Artist Statement:

Painting allows me to listen deeply and reverently to the mystery I hear in nature.

This body of work is inspired by BC cedars, stumps and driftwood.  I explore the transitory nature of form, and how life is a continual process of “becoming”.

Living on Saltspring Island, BC, Cheryl Long is a Canadian landscape painter, children’s book illustrator and author.

Just because it's broke doesn't mean it isn't fixable.  An initiative of Zero Waste Sooke, the Repair Cafe is a family-friendly free service that welcomes people to bring items for repair. Anything that is broken is fair game (lamps, hairdryers, furniture, bikes, toys, crockery, fabrics). if you can carry it through the door, someone will help you repair it. Repairing items rather than junking them saves money and resources while also reducing the mountains of trash we are accumulating as well as minimizing the CO2 emissions that result from the manufacturing of replacements.  Come learn new skills, meet neighbours, and enjoy tea or coffee and cookies even if you don't have something to repair.
