"…her writing is phenomenally brilliant. She is a standout talent. Michaud-Gagnon’s music flows masterfully with poise and grace. She commands the piano with elegance, subtlety, and a refined quiet knowing." — All About Jazz

Montreal-based award-winning pianist/ composer Gentiane MG perceives music, above all, as a powerful means of expression. Joined by bassist Levi Dover and drummer Louis-Vincent Hamel, the band has developed its own language, transcending genre and striving for creative freedom. The trio has released three albums: Eternal Cycle (2017), Wonderland (2019), and Walls Made of Glass (2022). She has received several awards for her work with her trio, including the “OPUS Award for Discovery of the Year” in 2020, the “CBC/Radio-Canada Jazz Award” in 2018 and the “François-Marcaurelle de la GMMQ Award” in 2017. MG’s compositions are rooted in the jazz tradition of songwriting and improvisation while influenced by impressionist and romantic classical music. In addition to her own projects, she has played with many musicians as an accompanist such as Christine Jensen, Andre White, Allison Au, Chet Doxas, Jim Doxas, and more.

Toronto-based East African singer-songwriter Witch Prophet creates a soundscape of vocal layers, loops, raps, and harmonies on a bed of hip-hop, jazz, and soul-inspired beats produced by her wife and business partner, SUN SUN. Think Erykah Badu meets Lauryn Hill meets Portishead. She finds depth and connection in creating a music as a portal for self-growth, as she navigates and better understands her cultural and queer identity. Three years after the release of her Polaris Prize shortlisted 2020 album DNA Activation, returns to the spotlight with a new soul/adult contemporary LP Gateway Experience due May 2023. Witch Prophet has shared the stage with and opened for acts like Lido Pimienta, Sudan Archives, Tash Sultana, Snotty Nose Rez Kids and more.
