Geoff Searle adds his own artistic flair to the centuries-old art of Raku ceramics. Pots that are almost dry are polished to a mirror-like finish using the back of a silver spoon. This process is repeated twice more before being fired. Once cooled the pot is wrapped in an assortment of organic materials and metallic salts which are fumed during a second firing. All pieces are fired in the same way, yet they each take on a different appearance, creating unique, complex and exciting works of art.
