Again this year, a group of artists and creatives in the greater Fernwood area are opening their studios, homes and gardens to visitors. This year there are 20 locations in both Fernwood and Oaklands, featuring more than two dozen artists showing a wide variety of local art. There will be paintings, both abstract and realistic, ceramics, jewelry, garden art, printmaking, photography and collage. There’s even a roaming storyteller.
Since its beginning in 2008, this free, family-friendly event has welcomed guests who want to see and possibly purchase art of a variety of types. Visitors can enjoy strolling leafy streets, many with heritage homes and gardens, and exploring back yard studios and gardens full of art in one of the oldest parts of Victoria.
Brochures are being distributed to local businesses and stores around town with a detailed map of the venues and details about the participating artists.
Some artists also offer activities for families with children, and many of the locations are wheelchair accessible. Visitors can stroll the neighbourhood, enjoy food and beverages in Fernwood’s cafes and bistros, and view or purchase a wide variety of art at reasonable prices.
As an added bonus this year, the Fernwood Art Stroll is collaborating with the Fernwood Cat Walk, who's event is on Saturday, May 30th. Some of the Art Stroll participants are showing their cats as well was their art.

Three Victoria artists present Writ Large - Contemporary Works on Paper
Three Victoria artists draw on their pasts as professional writers and editors to exhibit a collection of large-format works inspired by the emotional and intellectual energy of written language.
Georgina Montgomery, Louise Oborne, and MaryLou Wakefield use words and text as part of their visual language to amplify a compelling idea, question, or life experience personally meaningful to them.
In this series, the artists demonstrate their individual stylistic approaches to interpreting 'Writ Large' and invite viewers to find their own meaning and interpretation in the works.
Writ Large will be on at arc.hive artist run centre October 4 - 19 and open for viewing Saturdays and Sundays from 12 - 4 pm.
An opening reception with the artists in attendance will be on Friday, October 3, from 7 - 9 pm.

A journey through Catalan song, flamenco, mestizo, and Latin rumba, where electronic and organic sounds meet on the dance floor.
Maruja Limón, a dynamic female-led sextet from Barcelona, have been redefining contemporary Latin music since forming in 2014. Blending flamenco roots with pop, Latin rhythms, and forward-leaning electronic textures, they've built a reputation for high-energy performances and sharp songwriting. Their latest EP, Te como la cara, is explosive music made for dancing and thinking in equal measure.
The group first drew international attention through Billboard's On the Radar Latin and a breakout showcase at the Latin Alternative Music Conference in New York in 2024. In 2025 they completed their first U.S. tour, performing at major venues including Lincoln Center and the Kennedy Center — a significant expansion of a global footprint built over years of touring.
This performance marks Maruja Limón's Victoria debut, a rare chance to catch one of Spain's most compelling contemporary acts live. Don't miss this genre-defying ensemble — secure tickets early for what promises to be a standout summer performance.

The Community Association of Oak Bay, together with Oak Bay United Church and the Oak Bay News will be hosting a Donation Drive in support of Victoria Women in Need Community Cooperative's programs!
