Relentlessly creative, Stephanie Taylor moves between abstraction and impressionism, incorporating elements of representational detail to convey the fleeting emotive experience in nature, while anchoring the viewer in a specific environment. The light is a common focus in many of Stephanie's pieces; paintings are constructed in layers often with vivid underpaintings that infuse the landscape with an elemental glow. Stephanie studied Fine Arts at the University of Victoria. Her work can be found in numerous collections across Canada and abroad.

Three Victoria artists present Writ Large - Contemporary Works on Paper
Three Victoria artists draw on their pasts as professional writers and editors to exhibit a collection of large-format works inspired by the emotional and intellectual energy of written language.
Georgina Montgomery, Louise Oborne, and MaryLou Wakefield use words and text as part of their visual language to amplify a compelling idea, question, or life experience personally meaningful to them.
In this series, the artists demonstrate their individual stylistic approaches to interpreting 'Writ Large' and invite viewers to find their own meaning and interpretation in the works.
Writ Large will be on at arc.hive artist run centre October 4 - 19 and open for viewing Saturdays and Sundays from 12 - 4 pm.
An opening reception with the artists in attendance will be on Friday, October 3, from 7 - 9 pm.
