    Three Victoria artists present Writ Large - Contemporary Works on Paper

    Three Victoria artists draw on their pasts as professional writers and editors to exhibit a collection of large-format works inspired by the emotional and intellectual energy of written language.
    Georgina Montgomery, Louise Oborne, and MaryLou Wakefield use words and text as part of their visual language to amplify a compelling idea, question, or life experience personally meaningful to them.
    In this series, the artists demonstrate their individual stylistic approaches to interpreting 'Writ Large' and invite viewers to find their own meaning and interpretation in the works.
    Writ Large will be on at arc.hive artist run centre October 4 - 19 and open for viewing Saturdays and Sundays from 12 - 4 pm.
    An opening reception with the artists in attendance will be on Friday, October 3, from 7 - 9 pm.
    For more information about the artists and the exhibition, visit www.writ-large.art

    This Family Sunday we’ll be playing with all kinds of lines—squiggly and straight, wide and thin! Experiment with drawing by using a quill pen, create a print by scratching lines onto foam, experience the fun of pushing and pulling paint with a squeegee, and use a ruler to create a face made of up straight lines only. Connection with the artwork in A View from Here: Reimagining the AGGV Collections will spark excitement and curiosity as we explore line and its essential function in art making. — Family Sunday happens every third Sunday of the month from October – June, and is an afternoon of exploring hands-on art making and ideas for all ages. This recurring program often features special guests such as storytellers, artists, performers or musicians! Family Sunday is included with admission. Admission is always free for: * Visitors aged 25 & under
    * AGGV Members & See Art Pass holders
    * Indigenous Peoples
    * Support Workers __ Art Gallery of Greater Victoria sits on the unceded and traditional territories of the Lək̓ʷəŋən peoples, today known as the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations. We extend our appreciation for the opportunity to live and learn on this territory. The AGGV is committed to providing a welcoming and accessible destination for all to enjoy. The main entrance is wheelchair accessible with a ramp on the left side of the entrance with no handrail. There is one set of power doors located at the left side of the entrance at the top of the ramp.
