As long as Tanya Bone can remember, she has been drawn to the still life paintings of Old Masters and says, “they speak to me on a deeply emotional level.” She works with traditional media and classical methods and is moved to create paintings that induce a re-appreciation of traditional realism and touch upon timeless and universal themes.

Paul Bryans has been creating artwork and developing his technique for four decades. He is known best for his island landscapes but his work also features abstraction and elements of expressionism. The artist is inspired by the natural world around him as well as inner exploration. Bryans was born on Vancouver Island but spent his formative years growing up in Haida Gwaii and Nigeria. Now residing on Salt Spring Island Bryans has contributed to many shows and galleries there for the past years. Theses places are reflected in Bryans work contributing to his landscape paintings. Bryans work allows us to slow down and take a minute to breathe.

Painter Barbra Edwards, photographer Diane MacDonald and printmaker Dave Skilling have joined forces to showcase their diverse approaches to landscape. The exhibition Gathered Landscapes unveils the unique response of the three artists to their natural surroundings. While each employs different tools and materials, a familiar rhythm, mood and vibrance emerge.
Elements that surface in Barbra’s paintings are often organic, vegetal shapes that have infused themselves into her subconscious from forest and shoreline walks. Diane aims to find unique ways to express the awe she so often experiences in her coastal surroundings. The rhythmic aesthetic of Dave’s linocut prints expresses his personal experiences on the island lakes and trails.
Each artist gathers essential information in a search to communicate the interconnectedness that exists between humans and the environment.
