    DAY

    April 19, 2024      April 25, 2024

Come and join us for our second annual group exhibition, taking place the
week of April 19-25, 2024 at the ArtSea Gallery in Tulista Park, 9565 Fifth
    Street, Sidney, B.C.
West Coast Wild features the work of seven artists, Carole Finn, Dyan
Myhr, Anna Spratt, Thomas Kero, Corinne Flaws, Bettina Williams, and
Jocelyn West, who take their inspiration from their love of rolling surf, sea
fog, mossy forests and of the wondrous creatures who inhabit land and
seascapes. The WCW group came together for the first time in April, 2022,
in the dwindling days of Covid 19. After months of masks, and isolation, it
was a relief and delight to meet each day, to share a passion for art, and a
love for the preternatural beauty of the Pacific Rim.
Seasoned artist and educator, Carole Finn, who will be participating in this
exhibit, hosted the week-long painting workshop in Ucluelet, B.C. Carole
generously shared her many skills and considerable experience over the
course of what proved to be a very productive week.
Judging by previews of the work that these seven dedicated artists are
showing this year at the ArtSea Gallery in Tulista Park, West Coast Wild
has outdone last year’s success. Packed with paintings and prints of every
size and medium—each artist displays a unique style and approach, united
by a deep love of the wild West Coast, and of Vancouver Island, in
    particular.
Set aside some time on your calendar to see this impressive show of
windswept beaches, foaming waves, orcas, ravens, and more. Come by
the ArtSea Gallery on Saturday, April 20, from 1:00 t0 4:00 pm, and meet
the artists at the opening reception.

In Sight Festival is the result of a unique collaboration between the Arts and Culture Colwood Society and Fort Rodd Hill NHS, Parks Canada. As partners in this endeavour, they appreciate the interconnections between the arts, culture, nature, and historical awareness in building strong community bonds. Expanding on last year's inaugural success, Arts and Culture Colwood president, Laura Davis has bravely augmented this year's cultural offerings with more diverse music and an expanded program. Thanks to Parks Canada, the park admission fees have been waived, which makes it a truly affordable event for everyone and a refreshing approach to bringing the community together.

Tender Touch delves into Victoria’s unique and proliferating tattoo community. In recent years, the tattoo industry in Victoria has grown considerably, with more and more queer and BIPOC artists beginning their career and opening up their own tattoo shops in town. Alternatives to the traditional western tattoo scene, these spaces are bastions for many seeking to adorn themselves with ink.

The exhibition will invite several contemporary tattoo artists in Victoria to show their work and explain their connection to tattooing as an art practice. The exhibition will explore tattooing as a source of bodily autonomy and a practice that requires a sense of trust between tattoo artist and tattoo receiver. Artists participating in this show are Brianna Chatwin, Simran Dhaliwal, Mason Larose, Kaman Lu, Mina Malahah Raposo, Stephanie Papik, and Grae Salisbury.

    Exhibition runs November 25, 2023 - May 5, 2024
