Fascinations with the mushroom form and functions have shaped creative imaginations and scientific ideas for generations. Symbiosis gathers interdisciplinary contemporary artists located in British Columbia, across Canada and internationally who have produced work that explore forest ecologies and musings about mushrooms. The symbiotic relationships between fungia and boreal realms have co-dependent networks that are essential to the health and vitality of ecosystems. These interconnected relationships have inspired artists and researchers to delve into these micro and macro worlds to consider teachings from the land, medicines, and survival. Scientific and artistic curiosities of the natural world offer inquiries and explorations in Symbiosis.

BODY//ENERGY is an exploration of inner worlds, represented by suggestions of living, active, body interiors. Organs and energy are all constantly morphing. The activity is ceaseless and connected to a bigger wholeness. These abstract paintings suggest the enormity of the enterprise that makes us the phenomenal beings we are.

Victoria songwriter and slide guitarist Sue Decker is bringing her stirring and well-crafted songs to Sidney in July as she gears up to record her second album. Set to be released later this year, the album will be recorded in Nashville with sought-after roots producer Steve Dawson.
The Sue Decker Band delivers their country soul sound infusing Sue’s evocative songwriting with the echoes of early blues, country, and folk. Sue’s soulful voice, earthy slide guitar playing, and ‘outlaw country’ songwriting sensibility make for a powerful combination. Joining Sue (guitar, vocals and lap steel guitar) are Denny Box (drums), Ellen Box (bass) and Gavin Hodgins (mandolin, guitar, vocals).
In 2019, Sue released her debut full length album Outskirts of Love to international acclaim. “We have proof here that Ry Cooder and Lucinda Williams once hooked up. Decker is a mind- blowing talent not to be missed.” ~ Midwest Record.
