The Federation of Canadian Artists Victoria Chapter presents their annual Fall Group Exhibition at Fortune Gallery.

What inspires us to connect and capture the world around us? What drives us and what do we hope to communicate through the works we create? Are they a form of self-expression, a social commentary, an impression of a particular event, or created to evoke a mood, to conjure up a feeling? Questions such as these were posed to members of the Victoria Chapter of the Federation of Canadian Artists, the result of which is this semi-annual exhibition called, “2023 Fall Show”. The show was juried, and the selected art works reveal that the motivations, methods and results are as infinite as the ways we, as human beings, choose to express ourselves. Please come and join the ‘conversation’ during gallery hours … the possibilities are indeed boundless.

Join us in celebrating the work of the FCA Victoria Chapter artists at an opening reception: November 4 from 2:00-4:00pm

Having always had a love for creating things - for music, for dance - Kimberly Kiel found one of her greatest passions when she applied paintbrush to canvas for the first time; and finds as much joy in the process as in the end product. Kimberly expresses herself through a wide variety of subject matter; landscapes and treescapes; figure pieces and florals.
"For me creating art is a passion, a celebration of the joy and colour to be found in life. I strive to leave much to the imagination, for the viewer to fill in the blanks.  To go from a blank, white canvas to one filled with brilliant, glorious colour - there is a huge sense of satisfaction in that.'"– Kimberly Kiel

Lache Cercel & The Roma Swing Ensemble
Fresh off recent performances in Romania, notably at The Nation Museum in Bucharest with Oliver Swain, Lache Cercel(violin) is cementing his reputation as one of the world’s leading Roma-Swing performers. They are currently booking a 2024 tour of Europe including dates in the EU and the Balkans.

Lache Cercel was born in Bucharest, Romania and studied at Romania’s prestigious Academy of Arts. In 1986 he was awarded the “Artist of the People'' citation from the Romanian government, one of the highest honours in the Balkans. Cercel’s music is firmly rooted in Roma (Gypsy) tradition, combined with Doina Klezmer, Middle Eastern, and European sounds held together with jazz improvisation.
