    Inspirational Explorations: Garry Oak Trees & Habitat

    Garry Oak Trees and Their Habitat: How We Can Help Endangered Ecosystems Transition to Recovery
    Patricia Johnston, retired Native Plant Gardening Consultant and Community
    Trees Matter Network member, will speak on Garry oak trees and the native
    plants that are part of the ecosystems. By learning about Garry oak ecosystems
    and their plants, as well as how to grow them in our gardens, we contribute to the
    recovery of fragmented ecosystems. Facilitated by Frances Litman as part of the community Inspirational Explorations Wednesday night series presented by the Church of Truth, Community of Conscious Living.

    September 25th is National Tree Day! We encourage our supporters to plant a seedling or tree and encourage your local municipal and regional governments to protect and preserve trees.

    All the way from London, England, the award-winning Echéa Quartet performs an exciting program of music by R. Murray Schafer, György Ligeti and Joseph Haydn as part of the UVic School of Music’s Emerging Artists Alumni Series. Expect a surprise at the end of the concert with some local fame!
     Finalists and prizewinners of the International Anton Rubinstein Chamber Music Competition (2018) and finalists in the Royal Overseas-League Music Competition (2019), the Echéa Quartet is a London-based string quartet formed in 2017 at the Royal Academy of Music. Featuring violinists Aliayta Foon-Dancoes (UVic BMus '15) and
    Emily Earl, violist Clara Loeb and cellist Eliza Millett, they have recently been awarded the role as Fellowship String Quartet for 2019/20 at the Royal Academy of Music, where they are mentored by John Myerscough, Christoph Richter and Levon Chilingirian.
