Colours of Summer X
Madrona Gallery
July 6–August 17,
Every two weeks new work is rotated in from Madrona’s large stable of leading artists from across Canada. Included are new works by Rick Bond, Nicholas Bott, Karel Doruyter, Meghan Hildebrand, April Mackey, John Lennard, and more. These works are complemented by historic works by the Group of 7, Emily Carr, E.J. Hughes, Takao Tanabe, Ted Harrison, Robert Genn, and David Blackwood, as well as Inuit drawings, prints and carvings. Bijoux du Bayou - Zydeco/Cajun/New Orleans tunes and familiar songs "Zydefried" to perfection by this hot quintet of fiddle, accordion, guitar, bass and drums. One of four concerts on Saturdays in August from 1:00 to 3:00 presented by the Broadmead Area Residents' Association in the intimate setting of the open-air gazebo at Broadmead Village, surrounded by sidewalk cafes.

Baroque Meets ABBA
The Victoria Summer Choir presents “Baroque Meets ABBA” directed by Maestro Simon Leung with guests, Die Mahler Quartet. Tickets: $20 each available at Russell Books, Victoria, Ivy’s Bookshop, Oak Bay, Tanner’s Books, S.H.O.A.L Centre in Sidney and at the door.

During the first half of the concert you will hear music by Handel and Vivaldi, accompanied by ‘Die Mahler String Quartet’.
After an intermission, we will present a medley of popular music written and performed by the very successful Swedish group ABBA, and heard more recently in the film and musical ‘Mamma Mia’.
