Kellylee Evans at Hermann's Jazz Club

    until
Six albums deep, Juno Award-winning jazz/soul vocalist Kellylee Evans has tackled everything from jazz to R&B and pop in such classics fight or flight?, Nina – her 2011 Juno-winning tribute to the legendary Nina Simone – and I Remember When. Her 2015 album, Come On, is a wonderfully refreshing album that comes on the heels of two nearly career ending accidents, including a freak lightning strike in her Ottawa kitchen. Evans was essentially unknown before becoming a runner-up of the 2004 Thelonious Monk Competition. Now, she offers views on love and loss in an alluringly rhythmic approach that is strictly forged by her jazz discipline. Kellylee Evans last performed in Victoria at TD JazzFest 2013. Experience this stylistic connoisseur live, in her element with Adam Cormier drums, James Meger bass, and Jonny Tobin keys, at Hermann’s Jazz Club on March 22. Morgan James plus Elise LeGrow at Elements Casino

    until
Throughout her spectacular career, singer-songwriter and Broadway actress Morgan James has taken on beloved roles and songs to give them her own unique perspective. She has recorded and toured internationally with Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox, which performed at TD Victoria International JazzFest 2017. Now, James has set her sights on the Beatles’ White Album. While each song is performed in its original key, James provides a soulful vibe and feminine flair to these classics. James’ current tour across Europe, Canada, and the U.S., White to Blue, celebrates both the Beatles’ White Album and Joni Mitchell’s Blue album. She first performed in Victoria at TD JazzFest in 2018. Opening the evening will be singer-songwriter Elise LeGrow. This powerful combination of two sensational female voices is not to be missed at Elements Casino, the Platinum Room. More information at: http://jazzvictoria.ca/society/event/morgan-james
