We recommend wearing masks during the workshops and at the gallery. We will sanitize and disinfect all the surfaces and equipment before and after every session.
Workshops 1 & 2: September 15 – 16, 10:30 am – 12:30 pm (Instructor: Lesley Finlayson)
Going beyond literal colour
By imposing controlled palettes onto your paint choices, you can begin to explore modifying the depth, mood and expression of your painting beyond what literal colour might offer. You can project a sense of calm, or energy, suggest a time of day, exaggerate the physical space and ultimately make the painting work as a whole.
Bring drawings or photographs that you would like to work from. Materials will be provided
___________________________________________________________ Workshop 3: September 17, 10:30 am – 12:30 pm (Instructor: Neil McClelland)
Still Life: Exploring Complementary Colours
Participants will create a painting working from observation of still life objects and using two complementary colours.
___________________________________________________________ Workshop 4: September 18, 10:30 am – 12:30 pm (Instructor: Neil McClelland)
Painting on the Photograph
Participants will create an artwork by painting on a colour image collaged onto canvas. Participants should bring with them a selection of colour images to paint on (photograph, magazine, or printed in colour from online). Magazines will also be available.
