Awareness Film Night presents a film created by beekeeper and cinematographer Peter Nelson that unveils the fascinating world of honeybees, indispensable to the feeding of North America, and how they are transported all over the continent in semi-trailers, the ways in which pollinators are in danger and what we can do to come to their aid.
Post screening Q&A with Bob Liptrot and Dana LeComte from Tugwell Creek Honey Farm and Meadery and members of Transition Sooke's Pesticide Education Group. Bob Liptrot has a Masters Degree in Entomology, specifically in the parasitology of bees. He is a Master Beekeeper, teaches beekeeping at Royal Roads University and is part of the Capital Regional Beekeepers Association. He has kept bees since the age of 6.
Doors open at 6:30 for honey tasting and bee and pesticide info; film and Q&A from 7-9.
