Decolonizing Research and Indigenizing Data

Event details

Dr. Jacqueline Quinless (CLIR Fellow and Department of Sociology) and Dr. Donna Feir (Department of Economics)

The history of the collection of data on Indigenous people across the globe is problematic because of methods that fail to capture important differences in and between Indigenous communities.  Dr. Quinless and Dr. Feir will outline approaches that can support the decolonization of research methods through community driven partnerships. Their aim is to generate strengths-based research design that supports socio-economic outcomes of direct benefit to Indigenous peoples and communities.
